Welcome to Somali Women Vision

Somali Women Vision is committed to safeguarding the rights and dignity of vulnerable populations, particularly women, girls, and children, through protection interventions that prevent and respond to gender-based violence, child abuse, and exploitation. We work closely with communities and stakeholders to create safe spaces, strengthen referral systems, provide psychosocial support, and ensure access to legal and medical services for survivors. Our approach is grounded in human rights principles and community-led solutions to build long-term resilience and social cohesion.
Access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene is essential for health and dignity. Somali Women Vision implements WASH interventions that improve water access through borehole rehabilitation, water trucking, and rainwater harvesting. We also promote safe hygiene and sanitation practices through community awareness, school WASH programs, and the distribution of hygiene kits. Our efforts aim to prevent waterborne diseases and enhance community health, especially among women and children.
We support vulnerable communities—especially women, youth, and internally displaced persons (IDPs)—in building sustainable livelihoods and achieving food security. Through vocational training, small business support, agriculture and fisheries development, and climate-resilient practices, Somali Women Vision enables families to generate income, improve nutrition, and reduce dependency on aid. Our programs promote inclusive economic growth by empowering local entrepreneurs and strengthening value chains.
We work to improve access to quality, gender-responsive, and inclusive healthcare services for underserved communities in Somalia. Our healthcare programs focus on maternal and child health, reproductive health, mental health and psychosocial support, and primary healthcare. By strengthening local health systems, training community health workers, and supporting mobile and fixed health clinics, Somali Women Vision helps reduce preventable illnesses and supports healthier, more resilient communities.
Somali Women Vision addresses the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation through community-driven environmental conservation and climate adaptation initiatives. Our work includes promoting climate-smart agriculture, reforestation, natural resource management, and community awareness on environmental stewardship. We advocate for the inclusion of women and marginalized groups in climate decision-making, ensuring that adaptation strategies are inclusive, sustainable, and locally appropriate.
Somali Women Vision promotes peace, social cohesion, and accountable governance by empowering communities—especially women and youth—to actively engage in conflict prevention, dialogue, and local decision-making. As part of our commitment to inclusive governance, we worked in close collaboration with the Puntland Non-State Actors Association (PUNSA) during the Puntland Local Council Elections, implementing programs and campaigns that raised civic awareness and strengthened citizen participation in democratic processes. Our initiatives support community dialogues, leadership training, and the promotion of transparent and accountable local governance structures that are responsive to community needs.
We believe education is a fundamental right and a pathway to empowerment and social change. Somali Women Vision works to increase access to inclusive, quality education for children and youth, especially girls and those affected by conflict and displacement. Our education programs include school support, accelerated learning, teacher training, and awareness campaigns promoting the importance of education. We aim to remove barriers to learning and foster safe, supportive educational environments.
To promote self-reliance and economic empowerment, Somali Women Vision provides practical skills development and employment support tailored to the needs of women and youth. Central to this effort is our self-established Training and Production Center, founded in 2016, which serves as a hub for vocational training and small-scale manufacturing. Graduates of the center are already producing and selling locally made products such as brooms and decorative materials, demonstrating real economic impact and entrepreneurial success. Through vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and job placement support, we are equipping marginalized groups with the tools and opportunities they need to become self-sufficient and economically active.
Somali Women Vision promotes inclusive democratic processes by encouraging civic participation, political awareness, and the representation of women and marginalized groups. Through civic education, voter awareness, and leadership support, we work to strengthen democratic values and ensure all voices are heard in Somalia’s governance landscape.
